Chin State Immigration Office located at the back of Hakha Culture Museum in Chin State was engulfed by fire after the sounds of gunfire were heard downtown at 10.30 pm on October 14th.
A local from Hakha Township said: “I don’t know why the fire broke out yet. No one dare to go to the office to put out fire as the office is surrounded by trees and barbed wire. The office was burned down when fire engines arrived.”
Only a night guard’s family stayed at the Chin State Immigration Office. The police arrested a guard man the next morning.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. The people near the incident could not extinguish fire as they did not dare to go outside.
Since September 14th, the military council’s troops have been carrying out indiscriminate firing of heavy weapons in Hakha Township. Two houses were burnt down. Some people are fleeing to the forests.
