Twenty members of the military council and allied forces were killed, and two were captured alive during the renewed fighting in Hsihseng in southern Shan State, according to frontline news sources.

There was intense fighting between the military council and military-backed Pa-O National Army (PNA) and a combined force of the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA) and the Pa-O National Defense Force – Kham Kaung (PNDF-KK), in Hsihseng Township in Pa-O Self-Administered Zone in southern Shan State, said local news sources.

A frontline news source said, “The confirmed death toll of 20 junta members is based on the bodies found, but the actual number may be higher. We haven’t conducted area clearance operations yet, so the final count could increase.”

At around 8 am on 6 August, fighting resumed in Loi Htwal and Loi Thaung villages in Hsihseng Township.

During the fighting, 11 guns were seized, and two junta soldiers were captured alive. The allied forces managed to withdraw successfully without any casualties.

Currently, two prisoners of war are being interrogated. Allied force officials estimate that the two may die from their injuries.

“Previously, Burmese soldiers fled, and now PNO soldiers have also retreated. Most of the casualties are PNO members. We urgently need bulletproof vests, helmets, and ammunition. We would like to urge the public to support our campaign,” said a frontline source.

Following the withdrawal of the military council and joint forces, the military council’s troops arrested and took several civilians from Loi Thaung villages hostage. They are now firing heavy shells at the villages using howitzers.

After the coup, the PNDF was organized into two battalions: PNDF-KK, which represents the mountainous region, and PNDF- Kham Dom (KD), which represents the plains. Both battalions operate under the leadership of the Pa-O National Federal Council (PNFC) and collaborate militarily with the PNLA in Pa-O areas.
