A family member of a soldier was wounded in a landmine explosion near the Light Infantry Battalion-561 based on Nyaungbinkwin village in Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region on 14 March, locals told the Than Lwin Times.

On the morning of 14 March, the family member of a soldier stepped on a landmine planted by the military council when she collected cashew seeds in the military-owned cashew plantation near LIB-561.

“Her son-in-law is from 516 Battalion. She doesn’t live in the army compound. The army has issued a landmine warning. She got wounded when she collected cashew seeds,” a local told the Than Lwin Times.

The victim is Daw Aye Mu, 47. Her right leg was severely wounded in the explosion. She was sent to the military hospital in Myeik.

The junta troops based in Tanintharyi Township have designated the restricted areas by planting landmines as they worry about the PDF attack. The military council urges the family members not to go to the restricted areas.
