The Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROs) which are holding peace talks with the military council should be persuaded to join the National Unity Government (NUG), U Than Soe Naing, a political analyst said.

“The military council’s peace talks persuade EROs not to join the NUG. This is a constant effort. Nowadays it is more evident. The reason is some weak organizations hold peace talks with some signatories to the Nationwide Ceasefire Accord (NCA) when the internal armed conflict is very intense. This is just an activity which persuades these groups not to join the NUG. These activities are just the matters which will bring about no benefits to our Spring Revolution. In my view, the NUG should persuade these groups,” he added.

The NCA signatories, namely the Restoration Council of Shan State/Shan State Army (RCSS/SSA), the New Mon State Party (NMSP), the Democratic Karen Benevolent Army (DKBA), the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP), the Karen National Union/Karen National Liberation Army-Peace Council (KNU/KNLA-PC), the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLO) and the Lahu Democratic Union (LDU) held peace talks with the military council.

Non-NCA signatories, namely the United Wa State Army (UWSA), the National Democratic Alliance Army (NDAA)-Mongla and the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) also held talks with the military council.

Dr. Hla Kaw Zaw, a political analyst said: “All the internal problems in Myanmar are due to the military council. The splits among us are the results of the military council. I like what an ethnic leader said very much. The main point is to overthrow the military regime. We ourselves can solve the problems among us when the military regime falls. What he said is true.”

Following the military coup on 1 February, 2021, the people have been engaging in armed revolution along with the protests.

Currently, a combined force of some EROs and the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) are making armed resistance against the military council in Karen State, Chin State, Karenni State, Sagaing Region and Magway Region.
