Eight junta soldiers were killed and six others wounded in an ambush on a military column between Seikphu village and Aungchanthar village in Kawthaung Township of Tanintharyi Region, at around 6 am on 1 February.
Kawthaung People’s Defense Force (PDF) ambushed the military council troops which came to inspect the death of deputy head of Pyu Saw Htee U Hsan Tin from Maryan village.
The ambush attack hit the center of one of two cars carrying nearly 60 soldiers, in-charge Monetaing of Kawthaung Township PDF told the Than Lwin Times.
The soldiers killed and wounded in the ambush are sent to Maryan Station Hospital and the military hospital in Khamaukgyi.
The PDF seized two guns, one long magazine, 28 bullets and three daggers when U Hsan Tin was assassinated.
On 30 October, military-appointed administrator U Myo Aung (aka) Naung Mae was shot dead by the Kawthaung PDF on village-to-village road in Shankoe village.
