Eight civilians were killed in a single day of airstrikes in Gangaw District in Magway Region, according to local residents.

In addition to the airstrikes, the military council forces carried out drone attacks in Gangaw, Htilin and Saw Townships on 5 October, residents reported.

“There is no military column or active fighting. The junta is intentionally carrying out targeted attacks on the villagers without any gathering. The people in Yaw area need to pay special attention to airstrikes,” a local resident said.

Using jet fighters, the junta attacked a pagoda in Yay Shin Ma village in northern Gangaw Township twice between 12:20 and 12:40, resulting in the death of a 43-year-old man.

In addition, the military council dropped four bombs on civilian houses in Kyain Myauk village in Htilin Township, killing four men and a woman.

Similarly, the Kyaukhtu Artillery Battalion attacked Pansan village in Kyaukhtu with heavy shells and drones, resulting in the deaths of a mother and her child, as well as injuring 14 others, according to local residents.

Airstrikes and frequent shelling by the military council’s Kyaukhtu Artillery Battalion and Gangaw Infantry Battalion-50 have killed around 100 people in Gangaw District.
