Locals face communication difficulties as mobile phone lines have been cut off in Chiphwe of Kachin State since October 10.
“Mostly, people here use MPT. As of 6 am tomorrow, the MPT phone line is cut off. Now I can use Telenor alone. I don’t know when Telenor will be cut off. I find it difficult to contact each other,” a local from Chiphwe told the KNG.
“In addition to the mobile blackout, locals in Chiphwe faced power outages from the morning till around 3 pm. The people said that the military column is heading for Chiphwe. But I can’t say exactly because of the phone blackout,” he added.
Locals said that the MPT phone line is cut off as the military convoy leaves Myitkyina for Chiphwe on October 9th.
The KNG is unable to confirm the information about the military convoy separately.
Chiphwe Township has MPT and Telenor phone lines only. There are no reports of armed conflict in Chiphwe.
