The Border Guard Force (BGF) arrested eight civilians for suspected mine blast on Phayakoesu road in Kamamaung village in Hpapun District in Karen State at 12 noon on October 26, according to a local.

One of three hand-made mines exploded on Phayakoesu road in Kamamaung village in Hpapun District in Karen National Union’s Brigade-5-controlled Mutraw.

“A mine blast occurred on Phayakoesu road. I don’t know when the mine was planted. Three mines are planted. The remaining mines are not found. Eight elderly and youths got arrested last night. The BGF is patrolling at night. I don’t know where they are taken. I think they are taken to the battalion. The families have lost connection with the detainees,” a local told the KIC.

Currently, the BGF is carrying out increased deployments of troops in Kamamaung village, according to locals.

The military council clashes with the Karenni National Liberation Army’s Brigade-5 in almost every day as the junta soldiers have increased military activities in the KNU’s Mutraw (Hpapun) District.

The military council and the BGF are committing human rights violations against locals, according to the KNU’s statement.
