The military council has detained around 35 locals following the attacks on a military-backed 100-household head and a PyuSawHtee leader in Mawlamyinegyun Township in Ayeyarwady Region, according to locals.
A local said: “A PyuSawHtee leader and his mother were shot. There was a bomb attack on the house owned by the 100-household head in Kyungyi village. Then, the military council continued to arrest locals till December 16, following the attacks.”
On December 8, a bomb blast occurred at the house of 100-household head U Myint Soe in Kyungyi village in Mawlamyinegyun Township. On December 5, PyuSawHtee leader U Min Min from Sinmawaechaung village and his mother were shot.
According to the latest information, the military council has detained around 35 locals.
Among the detainees are passersby, farmers, the persons who were arrested on suspicion during the inspection of overnight guest list and some National League for Democracy (NLD) supporters, locals said.
A person close to the family of detainees said: “No one has been released yet. The army and police are the ones who can only beat the people. So, the families of the detainees worry about them since detention. The detainees will surely be imprisoned.”
Mawlamyinegyun Township People’s Defense Force (PDF) announced that 100-household U Myint Soe from Kyungyi village sealed off the houses of two locals who have no good relations with him, in cooperation with the military council. The PDF carried out a bomb attack as he threatened locals, disrupted and arrested revolutionary forces, checked overnight guests and extorted money.
Eagle Guerilla Force (Mawgyun) announced that it carried out an attack on PyuSawHtee leader Min Min and his mother from Sinmawaechaung village in Mawlamyinegyun Township as they disrupted local revolutionary forces and threatened locals.
The bomb blast caused minor damages to the house owned by informant 100-household U Myint Soe. There were no reports of casualties.
PyuSawHtee leader Min Min and his mother from Sinmawaechaung village were seriously injured in the shooting. Till date, they are receiving treatment, according to locals.
