Around 2000 locals displaced by the junta’s arsons in Saw

More than 2,000 locals fled to safer places as a military column burned down more than 200 civilian houses in Saw Township of Magway Region, locals told the Than Lwin Times.

The military council burned down 226 civilian houses in Letpan and Pasoke villages citing that locals did not search the missing family members of soldiers.

On November 15, the military burned down 150 out of 238 houses in Letpan village and 76 out of 156 houses in Pasoke village. Currently, the Internally Displaced People (IDPs)are in urgent need of rations and medicines,” a local told the Than Lwin Times.

The military council’s arsons have displaced 1,118 people from Letpan village and 434 from Pasoke village.

The military council soldiers who burned down Letpan and Pasoke villages clashed with a combined force of the District Battalion-8 and Battalion-9 under Kyaukhtu PDF (YRPDF), District Battalion-3 and Battalion-5 of Saw PDF, Battalion-2 of Saw PDF (YRPA), District Battalion-4 of Hteelin PDF, Saw the Youth Force (Saw & Kyaukhtu) YDF, the CDF (Kanpetlet) and Pauk PDF.

A military column which burned down the houses covered 93 members. However, only 73 soldiers could return to the Kyaukhtu artillery force. Around 20 soldiers are missing.

Some members of the PDFs were injured in the clash, the persons close to the PDF told the Than Lwin Times.

Kyaukhtu PDF (TPRA) rescued an abbot from Letpan village monastery and three civilians who were being detained by the military council before the clash.

They also rescued the elderly in cooperation with the defense forces when the military council was burning villages.
