The military council has blocked the roads as the military council clashes with the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), near Tadakyo village near Kawkareik Township in Karen State, at 5.30 am on December 16, according to a driver.

Junta soldiers have blocked the road at the entry of Thingannyinaung on Myawady-Kawkareik Asia Road. More than 200 trucks and passenger buses are blocked along the road in clash-hit TadaU village.

“The army is ambushed. I have heard the army suffers heavy casualties. I hear the countless numbers of heavy shells. The road block occurs from Tadakyo village to Kyonedoe. We turn back as the situation is not good. Only trucks remain there. More than 200 vehicles are stranded. The vehicles at Thingannyinaung gate and vehicles from Hpa-An, are not allowed to leave. The army has blocked all the roads,” the driver told the KIC.

“This morning, there was a big clash. The clash started at 5.30 am and ended at 9 am. Heavy shells landed from Koetaing junction, Kyarin junction and Seven Taing. The school was shaken by heavy shells. The military conducted airstrikes using two jet fighters. Flights are flying in the sky,” a local says.

The KIC is still investigating the detailed information about the casualties. Both sides have not officially released information about it yet.

On October 19, trucks and passenger buses were blocked at the entrances of Thingannyinaung and Kawkareik due to the clashes between the military council and the KNLA, near Tawnaw waterfall on Myawady-Kawkareik Asia Road.
