The Arakan Army (AA) said that Paletwa Township in Chin State belongs to the residents of Paletwa region. It has drawn up plans for the security and development of Paletwa Township and will implement all-inclusive administrative programs.
“Paletwa region belongs to the people living in Paletwa region. To be clear, there is a plan to assign suitable people from ethnic groups living in Paletwa region to the administrative bodies,” Khaing Thukha, Spokesperson of the AA said at a press conference on 4 March, about the AA’s policies regarding Paletwa Township.
“The AA is laying down plans for development and cooperation for equal management of all sectors after taking security measures for development and stability of Paletwa region,” he said.
Khaing Thukha said that residents from the appropriate ethnic groups in Paletwa have been invited to join the administration of the Arakan Army/United League of Arakan (AA/ULA).
After the liberation of Paletwa region from the military dictator, development, stability and building a secure future is more important than saying that Paletwa region belongs to them, the AA Spokesperson said.
“In order to ensure security and stability, the Paletwa region will continue to be under the control of the ULA. Palewa region is home to many ethnic groups. After drafting good plans for their security and development, we are going to work with all-inclusive administrative plans,” said Khaing Thukha.
Regarding the concerns of the Chin resistance forces about the Paletwa region, Khaing Thukha said that the AA would like to suggest that instead of their concern about Paletwa region alone, they should pay attention to the liberation of the Chin State.
The military council troops are still firmly stationed in Chin State, and it is necessary to first fight the military council troops to liberate Chin State.
It is especially necessary for the Chin revolutionary forces not to deviate from the revolutionary path without fighting the military council forces, Khaing Thukha said.
For the liberation of the entire Chin State, the AA is providing aid to its allies in Chin State as much as it can, he said.
The AA is implementing the plans for the resettlement of locals, reopening of markets and municipal works in Paletwa, the AA’s Spokesperson Khaing Thukha continued.
The AA is working on the mine awareness program, aid program and health service in the villages of Paletwa Township, the AA spokesperson said.
So far, the AA has seized complete control of Paletwa in Chin State and six townships and 215 camps in Arakan State. Fighting continues in most of townships of Arakan State.
