The United League of Arakan/Arakan Army (ULA/AA) issued a statement on December 17th, warning the Arakan people to be cautious about the continuous occurrences of unusual events which may lead to racial conflicts in some townships in Arakan State in December.

The unusual events are: the burning of two combine harvesters in Lower Thakan village in MraukU Township on December 9th, the burning of paddy sheaves stockpiled near Laungkyat village in MraukU Township on December 11th and the attempted rape of an Arakan woman by two Muslim men near Taungbwal village in Kyauktaw Township on December 12nd, arson at the post primary school on Mingalar road in Ywama ward in Gwa Township at midnight on December 13th and the buring of harvested paddy owned by three farmers in Simaw village in Kyaukbyu Township on December 14th. There were other cases, the statement says.

Similar events like the case near Laungkyat village in MraukU Township, occurred in other villages simultaneously.

It is suspicious that an organization intentionally masterminds these events for political incitements. It is worrying that these events may lead to racial conflicts along with security risks.

The ULA/AA has viewed these events as the incidents which intentionally create regional conflicts through racial conflicts, incite instability and cause fear and anxiety in the stable Arakan State.

The AA has urged the youths to be vigilant about the entry of strangers in their respective wards and villages for the protection of life and property of the people and fire risk.
