Junta soldiers kill three of 30 detainees from Tharyarkone villager in southern Kalay

The junta soldiers who are stationed in Tharyarkone village in southern Kalay Township killed three of 30 detained villagers, according to the statement by the People’s Defense Force (PDF)-Kalay.

“From August 1st to August 4th, there was intense fighting between the military council troops and the PDFs in Tharyarkone village near Kalay Technological University.

The military council troops burned the houses in Tharyarkone village. The military council continues to detain 27 villagers,” an official of the Battalion-1 of the PDF-Kalay.

Tharyarkone village has a population of around 1,500 and over 300 households. Most of the locals are Chin people.

Almost all villagers have fled to the nearby villages due to the fighting.

The detainees are the ones who were stranded in the village when the military council soldiers entered the village.

On August 5th, the military council troops again clashed with the PDFs near the staff housing in Taung Philar ward in downtown Kalay.

The PDFs carried out an ambush attack on two military vehicles loaded with soldiers. Six junta soldiers died on the spot and four injured soldiers were killed on the way to the military hospital, according to the PDF-Kalay.

A civilian sustained gunshot wounds as the military council troops which suffered heavy casualties carried out the indiscriminate shooting.

The PDF-Kalay carried out a mine attack on the military council troops stationed on the Kannipar Bridge in the southern Kalay when the military column was heading to Myaung Chaung Bridge. Ten junta soldiers were killed and at least 10 others wounded in the attack.

The military carried the bodies of the junta soldiers who were killed in the mine attack by helicopter, according to the PDF-Kalay.

The junta soldiers who entered Yazagyo village in the northern Kalay on August 4th torched the houses and killed a civilian in the village this morning, according to the statement issued by the PDF-Kalay.
