Eight ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) including the Karenni National Progressive Party (KNPP) are included in the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), said U Aung Hsan Myint, an official of the Karenni State Consultative Council (KSCC) at the first online press conference of the NUCC on November 16th.
“Ethnic armed revolutionary resistance organizations are included in the NUCC in different forms. Some organizations are directly involved in the NUCC while some others are included in the NUCC as the State Consultative Councils representing the States,” said U Aung Hsan Myint who is one of the leaders of the NUCC.
The EAOs included in the NUCC are the KNPP, the Chin National Front (CNF) and the Karen National Union (KNU). At present, it is impossible to release the names of the remaining EAOs,” he added.
“Among the speakers is the KNU’s representative. I represent the KSCC. Dr. Lian Hmung represents the Chin State Consultative Council. The inclusion form is different. There are certain reasons why all EAOs are not included in the NUCC. It depends largely on the geographical locations, actual conditions and the political goals and objectives of relevant organizations. The NUCC’s political goal through the collective leadership is to build up a future federal democratic union. Making more cooperation by the organizations depends on the NUCC’s political incidents. Cooperation and coordination committees will be formed in the respective EAOs-controlled areas for the political implementation sectors,” he continued.
It will be implemented according to the interim constitution which is the part-2 of the Federal Democratic Charter and in accord with three tasks.
In addition, the NUCC plans to convene the people’s congress every six months.
At the press conference, the representatives elaborated on the NUCC’s work to build up a federal democratic union for implementation of the collective leadership of the leaders from the respective groups including ethnic armed revolutionary resistance organizations and the important tasks for the revolution.
