The Myanmar military conducted over 140 airstrikes in Myaing Township, Magway Region, over a six-day period from 24 to 29 July, according to data released by the We Love Myaing group.
The group’s report details 21 airstrikes on 24 July, at least six on 25 July, approximately 10 on 26 July, over 70 on 27 July, over 20 on 28 July, and around 20 on 29 July.
However, the We Love Myaing group reported that one local resident was injured during an airstrike on Nhansarkyin village in northwestern Myaing Township on the evening of 24 July.
“We heard clashes around here about two days ago, but none since. However, last night, six jet fighters and two Y-12 aircraft conducted attacks all night. They are likely intensifying operations to secure their intended route. They have been stationed in Thinma for a long time. There were earlier clashes, and we heard they suffered heavy casualties,” an official from the Anyar Myay Civil Society Organization (Myaing) told Mizzima on 29 July.
The military column deployed in Thinma and Gyutkon villages in central Myaing Township remains stationary. On 29 July, a transport aircraft dropped ammunition and supplies to reinforce them, according to the Anyar Myay CSO (Myaing).
The organization has urged residents living within a five-mile radius of the military column to remain highly vigilant.
The military column advanced from Htauk Shar Pin village in Pauk Township, Magway Region, into Myaing Township on 13 July. During this offensive, several villages in Myaing Township — including Thinma, Kan Net, Let Khoke Pin, Nyaung Kone, Kaing Taw Ma, and Htan Nge Taw — were torched, and at least 24 residents from Pauk and Myaing townships have been killed within two months.
