The Karen National Union (KNU) has categorically rejected accusations made by Myanmar’s military junta that it profited from land leases and security fees connected to the infamous KK Park online scam operation along the Thai-Myanmar border.

In a statement issued from its Supreme Headquarters on October 26, the KNU said junta spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Htun and “certain media outlets” had falsely claimed the organization was financially linked to the large-scale cyber-scam complex operating near Myawaddy.

“The KNU categorically denies all such allegations,” the statement declared. It emphasised that a 100-acre plot of land was once leased by the Mu La Ei Ahlin Company and the Trans-Asia International Holding Group (Thailand), but that partnership was ended in December 2022.

That plot is located, the KNU said, roughly three kilometres away from the 500-acre area that hosts the KK Park compound apart and entirely separate.

The KNU offered verification through satellite imagery attached to the press release. The group reiterated that it “has no connection to the KK Park online scam in any way.”

The statement accused the military junta of deliberately spreading disinformation to conceal the regime’s own political, economic, and military gains from online scam networks operating inside Myanmar.

The KK Park complex, situated near Myawaddy, has been widely identified by human-rights groups and regional media as a hub for forced labour cyber-fraud operations targeting victims across Asia, the US, Europe, and Australia.
