On July 1, the Ye Blue resistance group launched an early morning attack on a military junta outpost in Ahryutaung village, Ye Township, Mon State, Mon State, successfully capturing the position after nearly an hour of fighting, according to the group’s leader.
The outpost, located within the compound of Infantry Battalion 343, was reportedly manned by around 20 junta soldiers. The Ye Blue group stormed the camp at around 5 a.m. and gained control after intense clashes.
According to a statement from the group’s leader, more than 10 junta troops were killed in the assault. However, the resistance group also suffered a casualty — one of their fighters was killed during the withdrawal, although his body was recovered.
“At 5 a.m. on July 1, we attacked the junta’s gate — the 343 checkpoint. One of our comrades died during our retreat. We managed to retrieve his body, but sadly, we couldn’t save his life. They lost many on their side, at least ten,” said the Ye Blue leader, speaking to IMNA.
Following the attack, junta forces from Infantry Battalion 343 retaliated with heavy and light weapons. A house on the outskirts of Ahryutaung village was reportedly damaged by shelling.
In addition, junta troops temporarily blocked traffic on Ye–Thanbyuzayat Highway (Highway No. 8) and tightened security inside Ahryutaung village, conducting strict checks. A local woman told IMNA, “Even after the resistance forces withdrew, the junta kept shelling with heavy weapons. One house was hit. Now they’ve blocked all the roads — no one can pass, not even through footpaths.”
As a result, many rubber plantation workers were unable to go to work today due to transportation restrictions, causing temporary work stoppages.
Although there have been no new clashes in recent days, junta forces stationed at Infantry Battalion 343 have continued to fire artillery toward areas outside the village.
The Ye Blue group has warned that they will continue their military operations, including raids on junta bases and checkpoints in Ye Township. They have urged local civilians to exercise caution while traveling.
