A military junta airstrike targeted Fwi village near Mindat town, southern Chin State on the night of 9 April, killing six people, including two children and a pastor, according to residents.
Around 8:44pm on 9 April, the junta used a jet fighter to drop 500-pound bombs on the village of Station-4. A second airstrike with another 500-pound bomb followed shortly before 9pm, locals reported.
A Mindat resident said: “Last night, Fwi village was bombed by a jet fighter. An entire family of five, along with a religious leader, died. I heard that about seven other villagers were injured.”
Among the deceased were five members of a single family, including two children, and Pastor Se Thang, a religious servant. Approximately seven other villagers sustained injuries, according to reports.
Furthermore, around 10 homes, including the AG Church, were damaged, according to residents.
Around midnight on the same night, Saizang Village in Tedim Township was also bombed by the junta, despite there being no ongoing clashes, resulting in the deaths of six local residents.
Since 11 February, efforts to resettle displaced residents in Mindat town and undertake reconstruction have been carried out by the Mindat Township People’s Administration Team and Chinland Defense Force-Mindat, sources say.
Mindat was fully seized during Operation Chin Brotherhood (Operation CB) on 21 December 2024, and declared free of junta control.
However, the junta has resumed airstrikes in the region since early March.
