Chin’s Zotung residents banned from carrying assault rifles and explosives

Local residents in the Zotung of Chin State will no longer be allowed to possess assault rifles, including pistols, and explosives, starting from 25 March, according to the Chinland Defense Forces (CDF) – Zotung.

On 25 March, the CDF-Zotung announced that local residents in the Zotung region are permitted only to possess traditional Tumi used for hunting, in accordance with Chin customs, as well as double-barreled rifles, crossbows, and air guns.

The statement clarifies that only members of the resistance forces are authorized to possess firearms, including assault rifles, pistols, other automatic weapons, and explosives. CDF-Zotung has prohibited local residents from carrying any weapons not permitted under these regulations.

Additionally, the CDF-Zotung has issued a notice to resistance forces fighting against the military council, requiring them to report in advance or provide valid evidence if they wish to pass through the Zotung area.

The Zotung region in Chinland is a military council-free area, and the CDF-Zotung stated that it is focused on ensuring public security.

The CDF-Zotung also stated that it has implemented necessary regulations regarding the carrying of weapons by forces fighting against the military council.

Similarly, the CDF-Mindat has issued a statement urging local residents in Mindat Township to return any assault rifles and other weapons they have acquired in various ways to nearby battalions and units.

CDF-Zotung stated that the announcement was made to control weapons and ammunition within the controlled area and to protect the public from the dangers posed by weapons and explosives.
