A local man from Long Sha Yang, who fled to Putao on 2 February, said: “I believe fighting will definitely happen this time. We’ve been hearing for a long time that Long Sha Yang would be attacked. Recently, there were reports that the attack would occur after the school exams were completed. Now that the exams are over, families have fled to the town, thinking it’s better to leave in advance, whether the fighting breaks out or not.”
