Junta paramotor bombing in Sidoktaya leaves eight dead including child

Eight people, including a 3-year-old child, were killed when the military junta conducted a paramotor bombing on Mon Hnyin village in Sidoktaya Township, Magway Region, according to residents.

The junta troops carried out two bombings using paramotors around 3am on 23 February, killing eight people and injuring four others.

A local resident said: “The area they bombed is where only farmers live. They deliberately targeted a cluster of huts. Since the huts are close together, the casualties were high.”

The Min Lan hut settlement near Mon Hnyin village is an area where farmers work collectively, and the huts are positioned so close to each other that they resemble a small village.

Local residents reported that the junta airstrikes damaged 10 houses, completely destroying three of them, and killed 24 cattle.

On 30 January, the junta also conducted paramotor strikes on Yae Yin village at the border between Pwintbyu and Sidoktaya, causing a house fire and injuring both people and cattle.
