Residents report that five people, including 5-year-old twins, were killed when the junta troops fired artillery indiscriminately in Seikphyu Township, Magway Region.
They said the artillery shell fired from Defense Industry-1 (known locally as KaPaSa-1) on Shwe Boe Kyun hit Kin Mun Htaung village around 5:30 pm on 26 January.
“Right now, about five people are dead. An elderly woman, two twins, a son, and a daughter-in-law. The twins were just over four years old. The shell hit and exploded inside their house,” said a local resident.
According to the Seikphyu Northern People’s Defense Force, the artillery explosion killed five family members: the 5-year-old twins, a married couple in their 50s, and an 80-year-old woman. Three residents were also injured in the incident.
On 18 January, defense forces attacked KaPaSa-21 in Seikphyu Township with eight improvised rockets.
According to local military sources, there are two KaPaSa factories in Seikphyu Township. KaPaSa-22 produces MA series small arms while KaPaSa-21 manufactures aircraft bombs.
Sources say that resistance forces have deployed throughout Seikphyu Township where the two KaPaSa factories are located, while the military council has also reinforced troops and installed heavy weapons.
On 26 December, a junta column from KaPaSa-22 entered Phet Ka Nar village in Seikphyu Township and burned down over 40 houses.
While it is reported that bomb production at KaPaSa-21, which manufactures bombs used in junta airstrikes, has stopped following this attack, this cannot be independently verified yet.
