Special warning issued for airstrike threats in Launglon Township

The Launglon Township People’s Defense Force (PDF) and People’s Administration Team (PAT) issued a special warning on 23 December, urging locals in Launglon Township, Dawei District, Tanintharyi Region, to take proactive defense measures in preparation for potential aerial bombings by the military council.

On the moring of 23 December, fighting erupted between the junta forces and the joint revolutionary forces in Kyauknimaw village, Launglon Township. The military council’s scout and fighter planes have been flying continuously over the area.

An official from Launglon Township People’s Administration Team said: “Due to the fighting in Kyauknimaw, the military council’s scout planes are constantly flying. The special warning was issued for the entire township as the military council is firing heavy weapons in Dawei.”

A local from Launglon said: “Until the morning of 23 December, fighting continued between the junta forces and the joint revolutionary forces in Kyauknimaw village, the locals from Kyauknimaw, lower Kyauk Wat and Kyauk Wat Pyin villages have fled to safer areas.”

Two Telegram channels, Enemy Air Route Channel and WINTESS ENEMY AIR SCOUT, which issued warnings about the risk of airstrikes in townships across Dawei District, reported that a jet fighter and a Mi-2 attack helicopter had taken off from the Myeik Air Force base, raising concerns of imminent air attacks.
