The military council has blocked the Myeik-Tanintharyi-Bokepyin Union Road section in Tanintharyi Region, according to travellers and drivers.

They said that starting on 25 December, the military council began blocking vehicles from passing through that section of the road, citing that the area was being cleared, and instructed vehicles to turn back.

Due to the military council’s blockade, hundreds of cargo trucks are stranded near Yephyu village in Tanintharyi Township, and some passenger buses have been forced to turn back.

Some passengers are traveling via waterways, using fishing boats, cargo boats, and speedboats.

Since 18 December, the military council has conducted a raid on the Myeik-Tanintharyi-Bokepyin Union Road section using excessive force. As a result, fighting has been ongoing daily in Yebyu, Theinkhun, and Chaunghnapauk villages in Tanintharyi Township.

Both sides have suffered casualties in the fighting. According to officials from the joint revolutionary force, the military council is conducting aerial bombings.

According to locals, the fighting has displaced nearly all the residents from at least four villages in Tanintharyi Township.

During the coup, the Myeik-Tanintharyi-Bokepyin Union Road was frequently blocked by both military council troops and joint forces of the revolutionary forces.
