The bodies of two youths who were abducted and killed by the military column were found at the edge of the forest near the football ground in Nyin Maw village, Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Region, local residents said.
On 12 October, a column of over 100 junta soldiers raided Nyin Maw, Gaw Inn and Lower Yay Phyu village-tract in the lower part of Launglon Township, according to local residents.
On 16 October, that military column abducted Ko Min Ko, 25, along with another young man from Lower Yay Phyu village.
The bodies of those abducted by the military council were discovered by a plantation owner near the football ground in Nyin Maw village.
Locals cremated their bodies on the same day. Victim Ko Min Ko participated in the anti-dictatorship movement.
The victims were found with cut injuries to their necks, facial crush injuries, and black and brown bruises covering their bodies. Their faces were wrapped in towels, and their hands were tied behind their backs.
During the junta’s raids in Launglon Township, five locals were killed. Three of the victims died after being arrested, while the other two were killed by heavy shelling.
Although the military council’s column has left, most of the displaced people from Lower Yay Phyu village tract still do not dare to return to their homes, according to Launglon residents.
