At least 10 civilians were killed in the airstrikes by the junta in Hsipaw Township of Shan State, which is controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), according to residents.

During five days from 13 to 17 September, fighting took place between the military council force and the TNLA. Due to the junta’s airstrikes, at least 10 civilians were killed and five others injured, a local man from Hsipaw said.

“Fighting is taking place every day. The military carries out attacks with planes almost every day. It is difficult to collect the data as phone line is poor. According to the data we collected, at least 10 people were killed. Yesterday, one person died and one was injured in Myohaung,” said the local man.

Due the junta’s threat of airstrikes, residents of Hsipaw have fled to safer areas, the man added.

A displaced local said: “Villagers are forced to flee to the forests. We have limited access to food and medicine, and we have no income since there are no job opportunities for us. We are more concerned about our children. We don’t know how we will survive without food.”

Currently, locals have sought refuge in a cave about a mile from Hsipaw town. They are in urgent need of food, clothing, and medicine.

On 10 August, the TNLA launched an offenisve against Infantry Battalion-23 and Light Infantry Battalions-503 and 504 based in Hsipaw. Now, the TNLA has controlled Hsipaw town.
