12 civilians wounded in Lashio airstrike

The military council bombed Lashio in Shan State with a plane, at around 10 am on 9 September, according to Lashio residents.

The military council’s plane dropped two bombs near Byu Har street at No.1 ward and General Administration Office in Lashio, a local woman said.

A local woman said, “This morning, the junta bombed Lashio again. The attack occurred near Byu Har street and the General Administration Office. We had to run and take shelter in a sturdy building.”

The military council’s airstrikes wounded 12 civilians. Details of the damage and losses are still under investigation, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) announced on 9 September.

On 8 September, the military council bombed Ward No.12 sports ground and Silver Sky hotel in Lashio, causing significant damage to the buildings, according to residents.

On 30 August, the military council’s airforce also bombed Lashio, residents continued.

Due to the increased airstrikes by the military council on Lashio, controlled by the MNDAA-Kokang force, displaced residents face challenges returning home and are worried about the ongoing risk of further attacks.

In the over one month since the MNDAA took control of Lashio, the military council has bombed the town three times.
