Military junta soldiers and police officers have abandoned the Kaing Taw Ma police station in Myaing Township, Magway Region, according to the People’s Democratic Army (PDA).

The junta troops fled the station on 7 August after being attacked by the People’s Defense Forces (PDF) on 3 August.

“Now that the station has been taken, nearly 5,000 families from four villages who had to flee their homes because of the junta’s violent repression can live in peace again. We are very happy about this. We will always serve for the oppressed people,” said Yebaw La Pyae, who is responsible for political affairs at the PDO/PDA.

On 3 August, the defense forces simultaneously attacked Yae Set Kone police outpost and Kaing Taw Ma police station and captured the Yae Set Kone outpost.

The PDFs withdrew from Kaing Taw Ma police station on 3 August, but continued to exert pressure and reportedly attacked again on 4 and 5 August.

Also on 6 August, the defense forces intercepted a supply convoy from Tha Yet Kan, resulting in the junta forces abandoning the Kaing Taw Ma police station on the morning of 7 August, according to the defense forces.

When the junta troops fled, the defense forces pursued them, attacked them and confiscated some military equipment.

The capture of Kaing Taw Ma police station was a joint effort by various resistance groups, including the People’s Revolutionary Front (PRF), the People’s Democratic Army (PDA), the Revolutionary Student Force (SRF), the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) – (Unit 815, Northwest Military Region), the Burma Liberation Democratic Front (BLDF), Lightning Drone Force, Pakokku Coalition (Young Force, PPDF, Thu Rain, Hunter Pakokku, Earthquake), Central Myanmar Joint Forces and revolutionary groups from Myaing Township (Myaing PDF Battalion 1 Company 4 Sekkyar Force, Pauk Township People’s Security Force and Justice Revolution Force).

During the battle on 3 August, at least three members of the junta were killed, while two resistance members fell. There were also casualties on both sides.
