More than 80 houses were burned down by the military council soldiers in Khin Balu village in Salin Township in Magway Region, local residents said.

On the morning of 8 July, the military entered the village by firing heavy shells. Around noon, the village was set on fire, local residents said.

ÒWe fled to safer places first due to the constant shelling. Then, junta soldiers torched the village. It seemed like the whole village was on fire,” a local said.

Since May 2024, there have been frequent clashes between PDFs and military council forces in Salin Township.

The junta’s arson attack also destroyed the houses in Kin Pun Chon, Kyew U, Khin Ba Lu and Lone Gyi villages near Salin and Saytoketayar Townships, locals said.

“Due to the military council’s regular activities in the area, almost every day, around 1,500 locals from six villages in Salin Township have been displaced,” stated the persons assisting the IDPs and local residents.
