Two civilians were killed in a drone bomb attack by the military council in Mogok Township in Mandalay Region, local residents said.

At around 11 am on 5 July, the military dropped bombs on Bawt Lone Gyi village in the western Mogok Township.

A local woman from Mogok said, “The junta’s Gaw Pin military camp carried out a drone bomb attack. Our village is only 20 minutes away from the Gway Pin camp by motorbike. The bombs hit the kitchen of my friend’s grandmother’s home. The bomb landed right on them while the younger sister, who had come to visit her mild-stoke brother, and the brother were having their meal. Both his brother and sister died on the spot. There had been no such attacks in the previous days. They (junta) carried out drone attacks today. This is a village of Palaung (Ta’ aung) people.”

The done bomb attack killed a man and a woman and destroyed the kitchen, local residents said.

The TNLA’s Information Department released photos dated 5 July, showing western Mogok under the control of PSLF/TNLA following the capture of military council camps by TNLA and allied forces.

In the photos, TNLA’s Deputy Military Chief Tar Mone Kywat and officials on the battlefield, along with some commanders of MDY-PDF, were seen.

Regarding the current situation in the downtown area, a local said, “The western part is currently stable. Residents in the town are still unaware of the drone attack, as the junta dropped bombs on Bawt Lone Gyi. Junta soldiers continue to occupy Gway Pin with Light Infantry Battalion-148 stationed there. The allied forces have now captured the camps in the western part of the town, but they have yet to secure the outskirts.”

The TNLA and joint forces have successfully taken control of western Mogok, but they have yet to secure the outskirts of the town and eastern Mogok, he said.

The local said, “The junta soldiers are active and stationed in eastern Mogok. They are positioned at the pagodas in the mountains, and reinforcements have been increased. Soldiers in civilian clothes are patrolling the town on motorbikes.”

In Phase 2 of “Operation 1027,” which resumed on 25 June, the TNLA and joint forces launched an offensive against military council troops in Mogok. Within a week, they successfully captured and controlled the western part of Mogok.

The TNLA announced the capture of 15 military council soldiers as prisoners of war, along with the seizure of arms and ammunition in Mogok Township.
