Over 300 civilian houses burned down in two villages in Gangaw

Over 300 houses in two villages in Gangaw Township of Magway Region, were burned down by a joint force of military council and Pyu Saw Htee, according to locals.

The joint force advancing via North Khin Yan village in Gangaw Township burned down the houses in Shwebo and Yay Thar villages.

When the military council column left the villages after burning them down, they found the body of an 80-year-old man killed and the burnt body of a 9-year-old boy, local residents said.
A local said: “The male organ of the 80-year-old man was taken out. They are inhumane. The body of a child was also found.”

Locals said the 80-year-old victim who had his male organ taken out and was shot several times in the head is U Thar Nwe from Shwebo village.

Over 300 houses from Shwe Bo village and 14 houses from Yay Thar village were burned down, locals said.

According to local residents, Shwe Bo village which has around 600 houses, was burned down for the third time by the military council troops stationed in North Khin Ran village and Pyu Saw Htee members.

The junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members from North Khin Yan village abducted seven monks from a monastery in Shwebo village. The detained monks were released on 17 May, locals said.
