Interim Executive Council of Karenni State (IEC) said that a bus line between Demoso-Mawchi-Mese in Karenni (Kayah) State started running on 14 February.
“The transport section starts running the bus line. After that, the respective divisions are collectively formulating the business strategies. We are working to continue step-by-step work for Karenni State,” said U L Paung Sho, head of the Commerce, Investment and Transportation Department under the IEC.
The bus line is run by the transportation division under the Commerce, Investment and Transportation Department of the IEC.
The bus line will run four days a week, and the carfare is set at Ks-300,000 per passenger. The profits earned from the bus line will go to the IEC’s funds which will be used in necessary sectors, he continued.
Regarding the measures taken for the security of passengers, U Than Chaung, director of the transportation division said: “Passengers will be safe with these drivers on the road. We can’t avoid aerial bombardments. We will hide when there is something suspicious. We can’t provide 100 percent security. The vehicles will drive on safe roads as much as possible and stop in the safe places. That’s all.”
The IEC announced on 12 February that it formed the Commerce, Investment and Transportation Department with the appointment of the head and four deputy heads of departments.
