Newly-appointed Mizoram State Chief Minister Mr. Pu Lalduhoma said that he will soon meet with the central government of India to continue working as much as possible on the issues of Myanmar people fleeing to Mizoram.
Mr. Pu Lalduhoma, the leader of the Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) who will soon form a new government and become a new chief minister after winning the general election in Mizoram State, told the reporters.
In a phone conversation with the Minister for Home Affairs and the Minister for External Affairs, he discussed the issues such as Myanmar IDPs and India’s policy towards Myanmar. He continued to say that he will go to New Delhi and have a face-to-face meeting, and will continue to do his best for the Myanmar IDPs.
In Mizoram, the 9th Legislative assembly elections were held on November 7, and the opposition party Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) won 27 out of 40 constituencies.
The Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM), which is only 6 years old, has the opportunity to form a government for the first time.
On 8 December, the new government of Mizoram led by Mr. Pu Lalduhoma was sworn in as the Chief Minister at the Raj Bahwan, the residence of the Governor of Mizoram.
More than 30,000 people fleeing the war from Myanmar are taking shelter in Mizoram State, which borders Chin State.
