Junta’s bombardment kills two civilians, wounds three on Mabein-Ngaoh road

According to Manwin residents, a passenger bus was hit by a bomb attack by the military council troops on the Mabein township on the border of the northern Shan and Kachin state, killing 2 civilians and wounding three others.

At around 1.30 pm on 6 December, the military council’s jet fighter dropped bombs near Khotar village on Mabein-Ngaoh road in KIA’s Battalion Territory. The bombardment hit a passenger bus heading for Mabein, killed two civilians and wounded three others, a male witness from Manwin village in Shwegu Township said.

“The plane dropped two bombs on the road. The bomb hit a passenger bus, killing both a driver and a conductor on the spot and wounding three girls seriously,” he added.

The two men killed in the incident are a car driver from Pyinhtaunglay Village, Katha Township, and a conductor from Kyauk Htone Gyi Village.

“The three wounded women are in their 40s. They used this road due to the closure of Htigyaing road. One wounded is in serious condition. The wounded were taken back to Sagaing,” he continued.

A member of the local defense force under the KIA’s battalion-12 said: “The military council bombed without a fight. The Arakan Army (AA) is also active in the KIA’s battalion-12. Yesterday, I heard that the military attacked the AA’s logistics route.”

The jet fighter that dropped bombs towards Mabein was flying over Khawtaw village, upper Rambo village and lower Rambo village in Mabein.
