Ten junta soldiers killed in Pauktaing checkpoint attack in Dawei

Ten military council soldiers were killed in an attack on a checkpoint in Dawei Township, Dawei District in Tanintharyi Region, according to the statement by revolutionary forces.

At around 5 am on 26 November, the combined local people’s defense force led by Dawei District No.1 Battalion attacked Pauktaing checkpoint where nearly 30 military council soldiers are stationed.

The clash took place around one hour, killing ten military council soldiers and wounding others, an official of the Dawei District No.1 Battalion said.

The military council’s indiscriminate shelling hit and destroyed a house in Pauktaing village. There were no reports of civilian casualties, the in-charge of the Spring Guerrilla Force said.

The military council force is carrying out frequent confiscation of valuable public properties in addition to the arrests, interrogation and killings of civilians in the villages of Dawei Township.
The revolutionary forces also urged the soldiers under the military council in Dawei Township to get out of the military council which is on the verge of collapse as soon as possible.

The military council tightened security and increased arrests and inspections in Dawei following the shooting at Eainshaepyin checkpoint in Dawei Township on 15 November, according to local residents.
