Myanmar Army troops entered Kinshey village in Thayetchaung Township, Tanintharyi Region, and threatened to destroy the village if they accept members of the People’s Defense Forces (PDFs), according to locals.
A military column of more than 50 soldiers entered the village via the Pauktaing Bridge at around 2pm on 28 November, locals reported.
The junta soldiers then ransacked around 20 houses in Kinshey and took valuable items, including children’s piggy banks, residents said.
Residents of the village said the junta column also left letters threatening to “destroy the village if the PDF members are accepted”.
The military council column then entered Shin Mothtee village again and searched the houses. According to residents, they shot Daw Myint (50 years old) who fled in fear during the search.
After advancing to Kinshey, Shin Mothee, Shanmatwin, Yaungmaw and Palwayshaung villages, the Myanmar Army column returned to its position at Pauktaing Bridge on 29 November, according to local sources.
Due to the Myanmar Army’s advance, residents of five villages fled their homes and some returned to the village on the morning of 29 November.
Also on 23 November, a junta army that entered Thapyayshaung village in Launglon Township destroyed more than 20 motorcycles and ten huts, threatening that things would get worse if the protests continued.
