The Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) has captured the Myanmar Army’s Longhkan outpost located between the villages of Muse 105-Mile and Namtawng in northern Shan State, according to locals.
The outpost was captured on the evening of 26 November after two days of fierce attacks by the MNDAA and allied forces that began on 25 November. This was reported by the Kokang news agency and confirmed by a local resident.
“When we passed the road to Monepaw yesterday, there was a Myanmar Army camp on the hill behind Longhkan village. This outpost was captured by the Kokang army yesterday. So I think the resistance forces entered Muse 105-Mile again last night. Then the junta troops stationed at the exit of Muse fired artillery throughout the night. We were awake all night,” said a woman from Muse.
The Lonehkan outpost, which is a 20-minute motorcycle ride from Muse, is one of the junta’s main positions controlling the area between Muse and Monepaw, according to locals.
After losing the post, the military council bombed the area near Lonehkan village with four planes, fatally hitting a 20-year-old man from Muse 105-Mile and injuring a woman in her 70s, according to Muse residents.
In addition, the military also attacked the area around the truck terminal near the Muse 105-Mile Trade Zone from the air. The airstrike damaged some stores, houses and buildings, the Muse resident said.
“After they lost the outpost, the military council came back with planes. They attacked the areas around 105-Mile all night. One young man was killed. Since yesterday, fighting has been going on again in 105-Mile. The outpost at Monepaw Bridge is also under attack so far. They are also firing artillery from several sides,” she said.
Due to the fighting, residents have had to flee to nearby villages and plantations, leaving only a few people to guard the houses.
Northern Alliance forces have entered Muse 105-Mile, and fighting between them and the Myanmar Army has been ongoing since 26 November. According to local sources, the allied forces are also attacking the junta’s outpost at Monepaw Bridge.
Fierce fighting took place near the Monepaw Bridge outpost until 27 November, while artillery fire was fired from Myanmar Army positions at the exit of Muse and 105-Mile, as well as from Infantry Battalion 127, according to reports.
Since the one-year anniversary of the Spring Revolution, heavy fighting between the Myanmar Army and Northern Alliance troops has continued along the Namhkam-Muse 105-Mile-Namtawng road section. MNDAA spokesman Li Kyarwen said that the fighting could escalate further across the country.
