Police members and soldiers abandoned the Kanywa police station in Gangaw Township of Magway Region, an official of Gangaw People’s Defense Force (PDF) said.

“They abandoned the police station at around 8 pm. I think the one who took the soldiers is a Colonel from Gangaw-based Light Infantry Division-50. He is Bo Myo Win Thu. The camp has already decided to surrender. The military council fired warning shots from the air and left the camp without surrendering. Rather than abandoning the police station, the LID-50 evacuated them,” the official of Gangaw Township PDF said.

At night on 26 November, they abandoned the police station. The military council pressured them as the officials of the police station held discussions to surrender to the revolutionary forces.

At present, the military council soldiers who abandoned Kanywa police station have arrived in Kyaukgutawra monastery. There are also speculations that they may continue to move to LID-50 in Gangaw.

Gangaw-based PDF arrested a police member during the area clearance operation at the abandoned police station.

Revolutionary forces frequently attack the military council’s outposts in Gangaw where the armed resistance is strong. In November, the PDFs captured three police stations in Gangaw.

Military council soldiers from Taungkhinyan police station and Kanywa police station abandoned the police stations after the revolutionary forces captured Minywa police station in Gangaw Township, according to the officials of Gangaw Township PDF.
