Chinland Defense Force (CDF)-Mindat has issued another statement warning the public in Mindat Township of Chin State to dig bomb shelters to protect themselves from the military council’s airstrikes and artillery shelling.

“The military council often fires heavy shells from the ground and conducts airstrikes. The military council conducts more airstrikes when the weather is fine. We have got the news about airstrikes. Due to such attacks, innocent civilians face more casualties,” an official of CDF-Mindat said.

It has to frequently warn the public as the public are weak in following the order released by the CDF-Mindat and the People’s Administration Body to dig hiding holes in every house, the official of CDF-Mindat continued.

Since the military council could no longer advance the areas controlled by the CDF-Mindat in Mindat Township, the military council has been carrying out frequent heavy shelling and airstrikes on the villages.

During this week, the military council’s attacks have resulted in the destruction of civilian houses, the deaths of domestic animals and the displacement of students and the elderly, according to the statement by the CDF-Mindat on 15 October.

On 2 October, the military council’s shelling wounded an 11-year-old boy and an 18-year-old girl.

The people need to dig bomb shelters at every house. The military council’s shelling and airstrikes target the villages when the CDF-Mindat conducts military operations, an official of the CDF-Mindat said.

During more than two and a half years of the coup, the military council’s airstrikes killed 52 Chin people and wounded 51 others in Chin State. The airstrikes also destroyed religious buildings, civilian houses, schools, rice barns and rest houses, according to the statement by the Institute of Chin Affairs.
