More than 2,000 locals displaced by Bilin battle

More than 2,000 locals from four villages including Alulay village have fled to safer places due to the battle near Alulay village in Bilin Township in Mon State, according to the Internally Displaced People (IDPs).

Since around 8 am on 4 September, there was intense fighting between the military council force and the combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) near Alulay village, according to locals.

More than 2,000 locals from Alulay, Alugyi, Ale and West villages have fled to safety immediately.

A local from Alulay village said: “Locals are worried since the military arrives in Alulay. As soon as fighting begins, heavy shells land continuously. Locals have fled to the villages in the lower Bilin while some have fled to the villages in the upper Bilin.”

Fighting stopped at around 4 pm. Due to tension between the two sides, the locals are worried about the military council’s airstrike.

Three members of the combined force were killed in the battle near Alulay village. Some weapons were seized by the military council, according to the statement. The military council also suffered casualties in the battle, according to the statement by the revolutionary force.

There are frequent clashes between the military council force and the Karen combined force near Alulay village in Bilin Township. In addition, the military council frequently fires heavy shells.
