The Myanma army reportedly set fire to the entire Yinke village in Laungshey area, Saw Township, Magway Region, with incendiary bombs, forcing the residents to flee.
The burning of the village by firing artillery shells came after clashes with members of the People’s Defence Forces (PDF) on 14 July. Residents reported that the army killed a 12-year-old child and destroyed more than 300 houses in the fire.
One resident said the heavy shells fired by the junta army at Yinke village were probably incendiary bombs.
“We could see clouds of smoke. There were casualties among civilians as well. It’s happening on the road connecting Laungshey and Kyindway. We have to remain vigilant at the moment as well,” he said.
According to some reports, the houses of local civilians were burned down by a Myanmar army column of more than 300 soldiers coming from Pakokku and transporting rations to Kyindway in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State.

According to locals, the military column was travelling with about 30 vehicles, including three armoured vehicles, and food supplies and reached Laungshey via Pakokku- Tanyaung-Seikphyu- Sinphyukyun-Salin- Sidoktaya road.
Local residents and defence forces said the junta column had difficulty advancing due to PDF attacks.
In addition, the local defence forces have urged the local population to be vigilant in their travels as tensions between the two sides in Kanpetlet Township are high and fighting may break out at any time.
