Karenni combined forces attacked and captured the military council’s strategic camps and outposts in Mese on the east bank of Than Lwin River in Karenni State, Karenni Military Information Center confirmed.
The combined force of the Karenni Nationalities Defense Force (KNDF), the Karenni Army (KA) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF) attacked these camps and outposts at around 8 am and captured them at around 10 pm on 13 June, said Khu Nye Reh, information officer of Karenni Military Information Center.
“This morning, we attacked the military outposts near Border CheckPoint No.14 and 15 on the Myanmar-Thai border line on the east bank of Than Lwin River. The outpost led by the Battalion Commander has more than 30 soldiers. The outpost led by the Deputy Battalion Commander has more than 20 soldiers. The casualties are still unknown,” said Khu Nye Reh.
The military council conducted airstrikes at 10 am with four jet fighters after the loss of outposts. In the afternoon, the military council also carried out shootings with helicopters, he continued.
These hilltop camps are the major strategic camps in Mese, Khu Nye Reh explained.
There has been tension between the Karenni combined force and the military in these hilltop camps on the Myanmar-Thai border in Mese since early June.
