Chin National Front (CNF) issued a statement on 8 June, warning that travellers, except local Chin people, are prohibited from entering Chin State (Chin Land).

This statement comes out as the military council is sending soldiers in plain clothes to Chin State by using public passenger vehicles, the CNF says.

If there is an important matter to visit Chin State, they will be allowed to enter with a letter of recommendation the relevant Chinland Defense Forces (CDFs) and the People’s Defense Force (PDF), the CNF says.

The CNF said in a statement that the transportation of military council troops (or) ammunition and military equipment with the use of public buses is prohibited.

The CNF warned that it will take stern actions against those who break the order. This statement is valid until further orders.

Since the end of May, intense fighting has been taking place between the military council troops and the combined CDFs on Thi Mit plain between Hakha and Thantlang in Chin State, resulting in the casualties from both sides.

Tension continues to mount in Mindat and Matupi Townships in southern Chin State.
