A mother of a three-day-old child succumbed on 27 April to injuries she sustained in a junta air force’s bombing of Saung Phwe Hospital in Yi Nwae village tract, according to a person who came to the aid of the grieving husband and child.

In the incident, one of the mother’s eyes was hit and her head was seriously injured. She suffered further injuries when the car that had rushed her to medical care overturned on the way there. As a result, she died two days later.

“They had to speed up when the plane came back. When the car crashed into the ditch, the grandmother also broke a hand. And the patient was injured again. When I asked her husband, he told me that she did not die on the spot. She made it to the hospital. She had just come out of childbirth, one eye had fallen out, and she had lost too much blood. She died two days after the incident. So it was on 27 April,’ said the person who helped the victim’s family.

At the time of death, the mother was only 18 years old, while her father is just over 20. During the bombing of the hospital, the three-day-old baby had to be taken out of the greenhouse kit by another person because the mother had been seriously injured.

The baby, who is now just over two weeks old, is with her father.

“The father didn’t want to give her up for adoption because she is his only child. Many people asked her to be adopted, but he did not give her up. He lost her wife. He said he would not give up his only child. He said he would accept help with good intentions for the sake of their daughter,” the person told.

Currently, the baby is being breastfed by another nursing mother, and she is also receiving Dumax milk.

Since the victim’s family have been displaced, they are having difficulty obtaining the necessary expenses and kits for the child.
