The military council imposed a night curfew (Section-144) at a ward in Paletwa Township of Chin State on 29 April.
“The military council declared the curfew in Paloketaung ward in Paletwa. It is still unknown why the curfew is declared. The people are worried about arrest,” a local from Paletwa said.
The curfew will take effect from 7 pm to 5 am. Following the declaration of curfew, the soldiers and police members stationed on Standing Pagoda mountain in Paloketaung ward are monitoring the vessels via the Kaladan River.
The night curfew was declared in Paletwa when fighting took place. However, the curfew was lifted when fighting stopped temporarily.
There is widespread criticism among locals as the army declared the curfew only on Paloketaung ward in Paletwa.
