Myanmar junta soldiers arrested six people, including four monks, after a General Administration Department employee who was conducting a donation at the monastery of Pyinsathimaw village in Launglon Township in Tanintharyi Region was shot dead, local residents told the Than Lwin Times.
On 29 April, Ko Min Wah, a driver for the regime’s department, was shot dead by gunmen on the monastery grounds in Pyinsathimaw village.
After the shooting, regime soldiers took four monks from the monastery for interrogation but released them from Launglon police station on 1 May.
However, the junta made further arrest of two residents who had come to meet the monks after their release from custody, and they were being interrogated, a resident said.
The regime soldiers reportedly questioned the arrested monks about the details of the shooting but did not physically assault them.
The Dawei Defense Team (DDT) announced that they shot GAD employee Ko Min Wah because he was allegedly a member of the pro-junta Pyu Saw Htee militia who had driven junta soldiers to resistance hideouts.
