Over 5,000 locals have fled to safer places as the military council is conducting a ground offensive after an airstrike in Htilin Township of Magway Region, locals told the Than Lwin Times.

On 20 April, the army’s jet fighter bombed Laungbolay village. Then, a military column of around 150 soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members conducted an offensive there.

Currently, over 5,000 civilians from 16 villages including Laungbolay, Aima, Akyiwarbin, Warboechaung, Pazinchaung, Zeetaw and Shwekhonetaing villages fled for safety.

The military council burned down Ponna and Pazinchaung villages. The extent of damages is still unknown.

“The military council conducted an offensive in the northern part of Htilin Township. That military column burned down Pazinchaung village. The army has deployed its troops to about two miles from the south of Laungbolay village,” a local told the Than Lwin Times.

The Internally Displaced People (IDPs) are in need of rations and drinking water, he added.
