A person with disability was killed when military council troops and members of the pro-military Pyu Saw Htee militia torched houses in Myinthar (East) village and carried out airstrikes in Paungbyin Township in Sagaing Region, locals reported.
“Regime soldiers from Paungbyin and Pyu Saw Htee members did this. A 22-year-old person with disability was killed. It’s true that he was burned along with the houses. People say he was burned on purpose,” said a local man.
In the arson attack by military council soldiers and members of the Pyu Saw Htee militia, 15 houses were reportedly burned down.
On 28 February, regime soldiers from Paungbyin and Pyu Saw Htee members entered Myinthar(East) village at about 10 am and set fire to the houses.
Similarly, a fighter jet coming from Kalay also attacked Myinthar(East) village on 1 March, residents said.
Afterwards, regime soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members retreated to Myinthar (West) village and set up camp there, sources said.
Currently, tensions remain high between the junta army, Pyu Saw Htee militia, and joint forces of the local People’s Defense Forces (PDF) in Paungbyin Township, leading residents to fear that fighting may break out in the area.
