The total number of civilian houses burned down by the military council in Kadae village in Palaw Township of Tanintharyi Region has reached 165, locals and Myeik District Battalion-1 told the Than Lwin Times.
On 15 February, a military column of more than 200 junta soldiers raided Kadae village and then torched more than 400 households in the village.
On 16 and 17 February, the military council troops were stationed in Kadae village and burned down 165 houses including a monastery.
Almost all people from Kadae village fled due to fighting between the military council troops and the combined force following the military council.
On 18 February, a combined force re-controlled Kadae village burned down by the military council troops. The PDFs are carrying out area clearance, the information officer of Myeik District Battalion-1 said.
The combined force lost a frontline camp in the Kadae village battle. Three vehicles, weapons and related materials were captured.
According to statement released by a research organization, Southern Monitor on 6 February, 229 houses were burned down in Tanintharyi Region, from September, 2021 till the end of January, 2023
